Reliability and efficiency of a boiler or an economiser or any other plant utilising combustion together with an heat exchange surfaces , can be seriously reduced by soot deposits on these surfaces.
Any type of fuel , in liquid or in solid state, during the combustion, creates residues that, laying on the thermal exchange surface, may lead to some of the following consequences:
- reduction of the efficiency of the exchange surface;
- severe damage on the tubes;
- increase in fuel consumption;
- distortion of the required thermal performances of the plant;
- risk of fire on economisers or exhaust gas boilers (soot fire) ;

If the plant is not equipped with an efficient cleaning system for the heating surfaces, there will be a very frequent need of interruptions on the working time with a related high manpower cost for the labour intensive job of manual cleaning of the plant.

A plant with an efficient sootblowing system can save money reducing maintenance stops and keeping the heating surfaces clean and therefore thermal efficient.

The principle of cleaning with sootblowers consists in the utilisation of an high pressure jet of steam (or air or water) directed on the exchange surface.
The blowing (cleaning) medium passes through specially designed nozzles on the sootblower lance. These nozzles are designed case by case with respect to the configuration of the heating surfaces to be cleaned.

Our sootblowers are utilised to clean different types of heat exchange surface like boiler wall tubes, studded tubes, fintubes of different types, i.e. spiral or rectangular fins, or cast iron gilled tubes.
